The School has five House groups which represent a vertical collection of Form groups from each of Years 7-11. Each House group has a boy and girl House Captain and a member of staff to oversee their students and encourage participation. In 2013, students voted to name each Year Group has a House (Form group) as follows:
Throughout their working day, students are rewarded with House points for:
House points are a record of an individual’s progress for themselves and their parents/carers. Every half term, House points for every student in a Form are added together and a House winner’s trophy is awarded to the Form group who collect the most House points. They hold the trophy until the next half term when points collected are added together again.
At the end of every term, individual students are presented with certificates based on the number of House points they have earned in our celebration assemblies.
Running alongside this is our Inter-House programme of competitions which this year include:
An English 500-word short story
Team ‘A Question of Maths’ competition with representatives from all Year Groups
An artist competition based on selected themes
A musical instrument competition
A Design Technology challenge
Sports Day events
Geography and History scheduled challenge events
Individuals and House teams score additional points for their House by entering these keenly contested competitions. House staff have also joined in the fun and submitted entries.
At the end of the year, all House points gained by all students in each House are added to the competitions results and an overall winning trophy is presented to the winning House.
