The School has six House groups in Years 7-10 and five in Year 11. They represent a vertical collection of Form Groups. In 2013, students voted to name each House:
As part of the school uniform, the students’ House colour is identified on their polo top.
All six Houses are overseen by the House Coordinator, Mr Slack, who liaises with all members of staff to promote the House System in the School. One boy and one girl from Year 10 are elected from each House. The job of the House Captains is to take responsibility for the leadership and organisation of their House throughout the forthcoming academic year.
We celebrate the successes of students who strive to achieve their best in all aspects of their life in school. The House system gives our students this opportunity to be rewarded for efforts and achievement in all areas. Students regularly earn House Points for excellent work, volunteering, contributing to school life and making good progress in their subject. Parents and carers can track their child’s House Points on MCAS and students are given a weekly update. A prize is awarded each week for the top boy and top girl in each year group. Students can keep up to date with their House total which is displayed on their House noticeboard along with any other key information.
One of the aims of the House system is to encourage all students to get involved in the many inter-House competitions within subjects and extra-curricular activities. This blend ensures that everyone has the opportunity to represent their House in something that they enjoy or are good at. Students (and staff!) quickly form an allegiance to their House and a sense of fun and friendly competition pervades all the House events!
