Year 7 Numeracy and Literacy Catch-Up Premium

There were 36 students who joined the School in Year 7 with low prior attainment (below ‘100’ – the national standardised ‘average’) in either English or Maths (or both). 16 of these students were female, 20 were male. 19 of these students have received regular and personalised intervention in Year 7 to enable them to ‘catch up’ with their peers. These interventions include:

  • Weekly Maths intervention with an external consultant (3 students)
  • Weekly Maths intervention with LSAs (4 students)
  • 1-2-1 literacy intervention with Literacy Coordinator 1 x per week for 30mins (1 student)
  • Support from LSA in class and Literacy Coordinator in regular sessions
  • Weekly Literacy intervention with an external consultant (4 students)
  • Regularly support and monitoring through the Learning Support Department (5 students)
  • Withdrawal intervention for spelling catch up with class teacher (1 student)
  • Weekly touch-type sessions (1 student)
  • A separate timetabled Maths group with Mr Howell 7 hours per fortnight (4 students)
  • Nurture provision (6 students)

In this cohort of students, 79% of students are now reported to be making 'good' progress in English and 86% in Maths.
